Cookie Notice

01 Scope

This notice explains how Index Pages uses cookies and similar browser storage on this website and in the customer dashboard. It sits alongside the Privacy Policy, which covers everything else we hold about you: that document governs the data, this one governs the mechanism.

It applies to index-pages.com and to every language version of it. It does not apply to anyone else's site, including any site whose URLs you submit to us.

02 The short version

A cookie is a small value a site asks your browser to keep and hand back on the next request. Nothing on this page changes that definition – the only question worth asking about any of them is what it is for.

03 Cookies we cannot work without

These are set by us, on our own domain, and they exist because HTTP has no memory. Without them there is no way to stay signed in and no way to tell a real form submission from a forged one.

• Session. Ties your browser to your account for the length of the session. It holds no personal data itself – only a reference to a session kept on our side.
• Security token. The value a form hands back to prove the request came from a page we served. Standard cross-site request forgery protection.
• Short-lived state. Things the next page has to know: a referral code you arrived with, a notice you have already been shown, and a plain marker saying this browser is signed in – which is all that lets the site show you a link to your dashboard instead of a login button.

These are strictly necessary. They are not used for advertising, they are not shared with anyone, and there is no version of the dashboard that works without them. Blocking them does not reduce the service – it makes signing in impossible.

04 Counters and analytics

Some pages of this site may carry a visitor counter or an analytics script, so we can see which pages get read and which do not. Where that is the case it measures pages, not people: we look at totals, not at what any one visitor did.

We do not use analytics to build a profile of you, to retarget you with advertising, or to enrich anything held against your account. Nothing on the marketing site needs to know who you are, and it is not asked to find out.

This is also the part of the site that changes most often. Naming a vendor here would let the page go stale, so we describe the purpose instead and keep that purpose narrow.

05 Cookies we do not set

Where a third party's code runs on a page, that party sets its own cookies under its own rules and reads its own cookies, not ours. That covers any analytics provider, our payment processor once you are handed to it to pay, and any embedded content.

What those parties do is governed by their policies rather than by this one. We do not control their cookies, we cannot delete them on your behalf, and we do not receive their contents.

Following a link off this site takes you somewhere we have no say at all. That is true of every site on the web; it is stated once here so it does not have to be assumed.

06 What we do not do

• We do not sell cookie data. Not to advertisers, not to data brokers, not to anyone – the Privacy Policy says the same about everything else we hold.
• We do not run third-party advertising trackers on this site.
• We do not use cookies to recognise you on other people's sites.
• We do not put your URL lists in a cookie. Submissions live in your account, and how we treat them is section 03 of the Privacy Policy.

07 Your browser is the switch

Every current browser lets you inspect the cookies a site has set, delete them, block them for one site or for all sites, and clear them when the window closes. A private window discards the lot on exit. Those controls are yours, and they override anything we would prefer.

What that costs is worth knowing before you use it. Block the cookies in section 03 and the dashboard cannot sign you in – not as a penalty, but because the signed-in state is the cookie. The marketing pages read normally either way.

We do not run a cookie wall: nothing on this site is withheld until you accept something. We also do not treat continued browsing as consent to anything beyond the cookies the site needs in order to function.

The small notice at the bottom of the page is exactly that – a notice. It tells you what is already true and links here; it asks for nothing, and closing it withholds nothing. Closing it stores one more short-lived value, so that it stays closed. If that ever changes – if we add anything that genuinely needs your permission – you will be asked properly, with a real choice, and this page will say so before it happens.

08 Limits

This notice is kept accurate and describes the site as it stands at the effective date above. We are not responsible for cookies set by a third party under its own policy, for what your browser or a browser extension does with any of them, or for a device other people can also use.

09 Changes

We update this notice when what the site does changes. The effective date and version at the top move with it. Continuing to use the site after a change is acceptance of it.
